How are Micro-Studies different from Once-A-Week Unit Studies?
SAMPLE WEEK
Celebrate the holidays with Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims! This informative six-week micro-study will not only span the centuries but the holidays as well! Students take November to learn about the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. Then they spend the first two weeks of December learning about the Puritans and some Victorian inspired Christmas traditions. Don’t get the connection? Don’t worry. You will!
For an in-depth study of the origins of our classic American Christmas traditions see our Christmas Comes to America Once-a-Week Unit Study.
Once-a-Week Micro-Studies (Grades 1-8) offer the same great quality you have come to expect from Once-a-Week Unit Studies, but provide your children with a thorough understanding of the study topics in only three, 30-minute assignments each week!
In company with the Homeschool Legacy tradition of making serious learning fun, Once-a-Week Micro-Studies provide students with creative and engaging assignments, each designed to get them excited about learning. Our digital Micro-study format also gives parents the added advantage of utilizing an assortment of educational links to further enhance their children’s learning experience.
As with Once-a-Week Unit Studies, Once-a-Week Micro-Studies typically suggest an enjoyable classic or award-winning family read-aloud that pertains to the study topic.
Flexible as always, Once-a-Week Micro-Study weekly assignments may be completed all in one day, spread throughout the week, used as an integral part of your unit study curriculum, as a hands-on supplement to any curriculum, or as a refreshing change of pace from “school as usual.” The choice is yours!
